Off-road
drives are travelled by vehicles designed specifically for off road driving.
ATVs, heavy-duty pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), quad bikes, dune
buggies and 4x4 vehicles such as Land Cruisers, Range Rovers and GMCs are
utilized. There is no specific make or model which needs to be used, however
what is important is that whichever vehicle is utilized, they must be safety
fitted. On a usual Dubai Desert Safari tour operators utilize Land Cruisers and Hummers, due to
their suitability for the sandy dunes. As per their experience they do not utilize
high speeds in the desert because it is difficult to utilize brakes in the
sand.
When you
utilize your brakes in the sand your tires sink in and you become stuck. The Dubai Desert Safari
vehicles are security fitted with roll cages to prevent the roof from caving in
on passengers in case of an over turn.
